Gatuplan – Paranoja (Kjell Höglund cover)
Sweden’s Gatuplan is back with the new single “Paranoja”, a cover version of a song originally released by Kjell Höglund – a Swedish cult status artist, occultist and poet.
Lyrically “Paranoja” is a journal entry where the protagonist faces a series of abuse and insults from the police, bouncers and the opposite sex – but it all comes to a happy ending. The original song, released in 1972, is an acoustic lo-fi Bob Dylan-esque song, which would have made no sense to try recreating. But the original lyrics lend themselves perfectly to Gatuplan’s vocal driven punk rock style.
Inge Johansson has been a big fan of Kjell Höglund since he was a teenager.
